As such, I have been browsing through the lovely candles offered on my favourite Canadian websites (some of them newly discovered!) and would like to share what I have found.
As always, well.ca does not disappoint with their green & natural category. Soy and paraffin candles (lead free wicks) from brands Pacifica and Meow Meow Tweet come in a wide range of luxurious, and often tropical, scents. Even better for conjuring up the dream of warmer climates! (Pictured: Persian Rose) |
Two other Canadian websites that I've discovered more recently both offer a wide variety of lovely beeswax candles. The first, Organic Lifestyle, has some different shapes, including heart, apple, and pinecone-shaped beeswax. The other, grassroots, has birthday cake candles, and coloured Pheylonian tapered candles. Both websites have a range of tealights, votives and pillars in beeswax. |
For candle holders, naturally I love fair trade. At Novica we find products of iron, ceramic, soapstone and more, from Mexico (seen left), Indonesia, Thailand, Guatemala, Ghana, Peru. Wonderful ideas for gifts and home decor, while supporting artisans of the world. |
Finally, my search led me to Gifts With Humanity, where I discovered these beautiful hand-painted candles from South Africa. My only concern here is that there is not much product info available; ingredients are listed as "wax," so I can't necessarily recommend burning these. However, they are a very cheerful decoration. Whatever your taste, I hope you enjoy browsing these discoveries as much as I have, and stay warm! |
