A couple of other treats: around Valentine's Day this year I decided to treat myself with a couple of gorgeous fair trade, nature-themed rings from Novica (please see my Fair Trade page for more info).
In addition to other latest efforts for health, I have once again reached the bridge between doctor-prescribed antidepressants and natural products. In part due to some insights gained from my acupuncture treatments, I have decided to try 5-HTP in combination with some selected herbals for adrenal support, and turmeric for my body aches and pains. I had been back on Prozac for some time, as experience has made me comfortable with the buffer it provides (as well as the fact it is covered by my employee health benefits), however it once again feels like time to try something different, and I am glad to return to a treatment more true to the heart of this website's philosophy. (***I have safely come off Prozac several times in the past but please remember it is important to consult your physician when considering any such changes in medication***).
I have now transitioned to the 5-HTP and my first couple of weeks included some nausea and headaches which have now thankfully subsided. Of course the timing coincided with a busy time at work but somehow I managed to tough it out :) I feel like I am getting a little bit more "back on track" to living according to my beliefs, rather than finding "bandaid" solutions; living with intention, and practicing things that I feel good talking about here.
I'm looking forward to a season of gardening and starting to practice my newfound permaculture knowledge (though I will be using some traditional vegetable growing practices as well). Time to get back to nature, and all the goodness and riches that it brings to life.
